One Little Finger is a powerful narrative feature film that is redefining global cinema by making history with a cast of over 80 persons with disabilities, bringing inclusion, diversity, and human rights to the forefront through the medium of film.
Written and directed by Dr. Rupam Sarmah, the English-language feature film is co-produced in India and the USA and is inspired by real-life stories. The film boldly challenges long-standing societal perceptions by proving that disability is not a limitation—but a different expression of ability. With more than a billion people worldwide living with some form of disability, One Little Finger serves as a poignant reminder that people are often disabled by society, not by their bodies.
The film brings together children and young adults with conditions such as cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome, hearing impairment, multiple sclerosis, dementia, intellectual disabilities, and rare genetic disorders—each portrayed by real-life individuals. By placing them at the heart of the narrative, the film promotes dignity, representation, and empowerment.
One Little Finger features an acclaimed international cast including Hollywood actor Tamela D’Amico, Oscar-nominated composer and actress Siedah Garrett, National Award-winning actress Jeeja Ghosh, hearing-impaired South Indian actress Abhinaya, and actor Den, who lives with cerebral palsy and a rare genetic disorder. The ensemble also includes Jonathan Stoddard, Jaya Seal Ghosh, Malaya Goswami, Siddhartha Mukherjee, Alakananda Ray, Kushal Chakrabarty, Biplab Ghosh, and several others.
Music therapy plays a vital role in the film’s storytelling. The soundtrack and background score are composed by Rupam Sarmah and Stephen Melillo, featuring contributions from legendary Grammy and Oscar-winning artists such as Quincy Jones, Julian Lennon, Siedah Garrett, Kechi Okwuchi, Kevin Mackie, and Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. Songs span multiple genres and languages, including English, Assamese, Bengali, and Hindi.
The film has already earned over 30 international awards and has been officially selected at film festivals across Los Angeles, Florida, Italy, London, Spain, and other global platforms. Its accolades include Best Film for Inspiration, Best Feature Film, Best Director, Best Music, Human Rights Award, World Peace Award, and Telly Awards.
