Glitterist Pays Tribute on the 99th Birth Anniversary of Mahanayak Uttam Kumar

On the auspicious occasion of the 99th Birth Anniversary of Mahanayak Uttam Kumar, Glitterist proudly organized a heartfelt celebration to honor the everlasting legacy of the legend who redefined Bengali cinema. Uttam Kumar is not only remembered as the greatest actor of our times but also as a compassionate human being whose values continue to inspire generations.

For the last three years, July 24th (his death anniversary) and September 3rd (his birthday) have been observed with cultural and social initiatives that reflect the noble ideals he stood for. Continuing this tradition, the 2025 celebration was marked by music, honor, and social service.

Every year, in collaboration with Peerless Hospital, medical assistance and financial support are extended to technicians who silently contributed behind the camera. Keeping alive Uttam Kumar’s spirit of generosity, a veteran technician who once worked with him is provided with ₹10,000 as medical assistance from Peerless.

The evening also featured the prestigious “Living Legend” honor, celebrating eminent personalities who have enriched Bengali cinema and culture. In past years, this honor was conferred upon stalwarts like Madhabi Mukherjee, Lily Chakraborty, Shakuntala Barua, Soma Dey, and the late Nimai Dey, paying homage to their invaluable contribution.

Adding a melodic touch, celebrated artists including Sraboni Sen, Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta, Sampa Kundu, Arfin Rana, Ankan, Samik Pal, Sispiya Banerjee, and Riddhi Banerjee performed timeless songs from Uttam Kumar’s films. The presence of renowned actors such as Kushal Chakraborty, Diganta Bagchi, and Dolan Roy further elevated the grandeur of the occasion.
As Uttam Kumar once extended his helping hand to countless technicians and artists, this annual initiative ensures that his generosity and humanity continue to live on. With the centenary year (100th Birth Anniversary) approaching in 2026, Glitterist stands committed to carrying forward this journey of remembrance, respect, and responsibility.

Prepared by our team of chefs, this month-long culinary celebration is a feast for the senses,” said Mr. Chaudhury during the interaction.

From Lobster in Pepper Garlic Sauce, Kolkata Style Chilli Octopus, Pork & Shrimp Dumplings, to Steamed Whole Beckti with Ginger & Scallion, the festival menu is designed to satisfy the cravings of every seafood lover. The dishes are available for dine-in only, from 12 Noon to 10:30 PM, across Chowman outlets in Kolkata, Bangalore, Delhi-NCR, and Hyderabad.

The cost for two begins at ₹1200 + taxes, offering a premium yet accessible experience for diners looking to indulge in something truly extraordinary this monsoon.
